      Welcome to Central United Methodist Church, a growing congregation, serving a rural community in scenic Mathews County, Virginia. Central offers worship and fellowship, as well as a close-knit, loving church family. The congregation seeks to serve God and the community through individual acts as well as its small groups, United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men.

      Central has been a visible presence in the community since 1873 and continues to worship God with song and preaching of the Word. Come and join the celebration of God's goodness and His love!

Worship and Sunday School

We worship on Sundays at 9:15 a.m. Sunday School is meeting in the church Fellowship Hall on Sundays at 10:15 a.m.  Online Sunday School for all ages begins at 10:30 a.m. on Zoom.  Our worship style is considered traditional, with responsive liturgies, dynamic hymns, powerful Scripture, and dynamic preaching. Our worship team keeps our services interesting and you will not want to miss a Sunday!

The Lord will provide.
